Spoke too Soon

Well, I jumped the gun a bit posting about Tyler being sick. Saturday after my class, I got to Mom's and was playing with him and noticed he felt a little warm. So, I took his temperature and it was 100.3. The nurse at his Dr.'s office told me to bring him in immediately. A few minutes later he needed a diaper so I checked his temp again and it read 100.6. I called the nurse on call and she told me to take him to Children's ER. I called Bill and he met me up there.
They got us back into triage pretty quickly and his temp was 98.7 according to the triage nurse. I felt like that wasn't correct but the nurse made me feel stupid for questioning it. Because Tyler is so little, they got us right back into a room so he wouldn't have to be in the waiting room full of sick kids. We were there for FIVE hours before they even checked his temp again. This time it was 100. They came in later and said they were going to have to catheterize him to get a urine sample. It BROKE my heart for him. Later I found out from Jess that they could just put a little pee bag on him and wait for him to tee-tee. After waiting for five hours to do anything, I don't see why there was such an urgency to get the sample right then. After his sample came back clean, they came in to do blood work. They had to take quite a bit of blood and Bill had to just turn his back. He didn't like seeing his little man hurting. I don't either, but I want to be there to comfort him. Eight hours had passed by now. When the blood results came back clean they told us we could go and just to follow up with his doctor on Monday. The final verdict: he had a virus and the third doctor I saw told me not to worry about his temp at all. She said even 103.4 was nothing to really worry about. Who knows what I should do.
While all this was going on with us, my family was back at my Mom's celebrating my 27th birthday. Although I did not want to spend my birthday in the ER, I am so thankful Bill, Tyler and I got to spend it together. We got to partake of the leftovers when we got to Mom's later that night.
These are both pictures I took of him while we were there. As you can see, he really is just fine.
